1 post – 30 hours per week covering Cannock & Lichfield area
1 post – 22.5 hours per week covering Tamworth area
Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and organised Tenancy Sustainment Officer to join our community mental health teams based in Cannock & Tamworth.
You will play a critical role in providing specialist tenancy related support to vulnerable people who are at risk of becoming homeless. You will work with individuals with complex mental health needs and help them live independently and remain in their own home. You will act as the main point of contact for tenants and landlords, answering queries and troubleshooting issues throughout the life of tenancies, and act as the conduit between the Trust’s Mental Health services and local authorities.
Main duties of the job
* Act as the main point of contact for tenants and landlords, answering queries and troubleshooting issues throughout the life of tenancies.
* Act as the conduit between MPFT Mental Health services and the local authorities.
* Assist in the delivery of a high standard of support to service users identified as vulnerable and at risk of losing their home.
* Work in partnership with external agencies supporting service users to maintain their independence within their preferred place of residency in the independent and non-statutory sector.
Job responsibilities
The service works predominantly Monday–Friday, 9:00–17:00.
Qualifications
* Demonstrate commitment to professional and personal development.
* Evidence of or willingness to undertake training relevant to the post.
Experience
* Experience working with people who have difficulty engaging with services and have mental health needs.
* Experience working in a community setting and making decisions autonomously.
* Excellent communication skills and willingness to promote service user involvement.
* Counselling skills, case management experience, and ability to work under pressure.
* Understanding and awareness of housing issues, initiatives designed to tackle and prevent homelessness, and government policy relating to housing need and homelessness.
* Experience working in the housing sector.
