Teaching Assistant – Special School, Andover

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our highly committed team at a special school located in Andover. Role Overview
The successful candidate will work under the direction of the class teacher and senior staff to provide high-quality support for pupils across a range of needs. You will assist with learning activities, contribute to the planning and delivery of lessons, and support the personal development and well-being of our students.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting pupils in accessing the curriculum and engaging in learning
* Assisting in the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources
* Providing targeted support for individuals or small groups
* Encouraging the development of independence, confidence, and self-esteem
* Promoting a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
* Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and external professionals
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will possess:
* A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with special educational needs
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* The ability to work effectively as part of a team
* A proactive, flexible, and patient approach
* Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential; training will be provided
Contract and Remuneration
* Location: Andover
* Salary: £13.75 per hour
* Contract Type: Term time only
* Hours: To be discussed at interview
* Start Date: September 2025
