The Warehouse Shift Manager will contribute to the success of the site by supporting the Operations Manager in the day-to-day running of the warehouse. The role involves ensuring all aspects of Health & Safety within the Warehouse are maintained and that products are picked and dispatched to the highest standard to meet contractual KPIs.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 14:00-22:00
Key Duties of a Warehouse Shift Manager:
* Manage and motivate the shift team to ensure productivity and service KPIs are achieved or exceeded.
* Uphold high standards of health, safety, and hygiene, ensuring compliance with legislative and quality requirements, and proper documentation.
* Maintain high levels of Quality and compliance, ensuring the site operates to the required audit standards.
* Deliver communication briefings to keep all shifts informed of company and local issues, encouraging input and involvement from employees.
* Manage Goods Inwards to ensure quick receipt of goods without damage, ensuring stock availability.
* Develop team members to maximize their contributions and facilitate succession planning.
* Conduct disciplinary and grievance interviews in line with company procedures.
* Monitor and control sickness absence and conduct effective return-to-work interviews.
* Oversee time and attendance systems.
* Provide regular feedback on team and individual performance, including behavioral issues and areas for development.
* Plan manpower needs, including overtime and agency workers, for efficient shift operation.
* Enforce and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
* Manage training for teams, ensuring health & safety representation on shift (e.g., First Aiders, Fire Marshalls).
* Support management with ad-hoc duties within the warehouse.
Qualifications:
* Experience in a similar warehouse operations role.
* Proven ability to motivate and manage large teams.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the capacity to network with suppliers and customers.
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook; knowledge of WMS systems is advantageous.
* Experience in packing or e-commerce operations is a plus.
* High attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
