Position
Gastroenterology/Hepatology Grade 3 (Part‑time, 22.5 hours per week). Contract: Permanent.
Location
Horton General Hospital, Banbury.
Salary
£25,760–£27,476 per annum (pro rata).
Job Overview
Provide professional and comprehensive patient administration for the Gastroenterology & Hepatology specialty team, supporting clinical staff and improving patient journey through efficient scheduling, referral management and communication.
Key Responsibilities
* Register patients and make outpatient appointments using Trust IT systems (EPR, Voice Recognition, ScanIt).
* Ensure appointment details are correct, check‑in/out of outpatient appointments, and manage electronic referrals via the eRS system.
* Allocate referrals to the correct Consultant timely to allow appropriate clinic booking.
* Utilise vacant slots to bring forward clinically triaged urgent patients, optimising clinic lists.
* Respond to queries from referrers, patients and other parties via phone or email, providing reassurance and solutions.
* Manage the 6‑week rota for allocated clinics, confirming clinician numbers against clinic lists in the ERP.
* Support service development projects, contributing to continuous improvement of administrative processes.
* Attend departmental meetings and training sessions to maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of service and Trust procedures.
* Act in line with Trust Values, demonstrating compassionate excellence and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Person Specification
Education and Experience
* GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at Grade C or above.
* Proficient in using various computer software packages and NHS databases.
* Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
* Experience with NHS performance targets and medical terminology.
* Confidence in telephone and face‑to‑face communication with patients and external stakeholders.

Additional Information
