About the Job We have an exciting opportunity for a Garment Technologist, specialising in knitwear and jersey to join our very talented Technical team. This role will be based at the Next Head Office in central London, working Hybrid between office/ home. You will own the technical development across multiple categories, working closely with our Buying and Design teams to proactively manage quality assurance and identify any manufacturing or performance risks and escalate these. You will apply knowledge and understanding of product construction, fabric / yarn capabilities, finishes and performance, print and embellishment techniques, fabric testing and test report evaluation to achieve a great product. You will be… Driving fit sessions to ensure accuracy of information and product compliance with Next standards. Following sealing procedures and facilitating the process Carrying out risk assessments to ensure product compliance and safety Completing fabric tests and advising solutions on failing fabrics / yarns Making suggestions for improvements on policies and processes and on product/ component reports Effectively managing the product approval process and clearly communicating non-compliance to the necessary teams and suppliers Working closely with Buying and Design to progress effective product development and to proactively manage quality assurance Initiating product comparisons and benchmarking against competition and in line with industry innovation Ensuring suppliers understand Technical standards and procedures, including the Code of Conduct and CSR Working towards key dates and guidelines driven by the critical dates to the business Taking responsibility to solve any quality issues in the most cost effective and profit conscious way whilst maintaining customer focus.
