Committee & Stakeholder Engagement
1. Act as the competent person for Health & Safety across all depots.
2. Partner with depot and operational managers to embed a strong safety culture and accountability.
3. Monitor and enforce compliance with internal H&S policies, standards and statutory regulations.
4. Lead Health & Safety projects and improvement initiatives across the network.
5. Conduct regular depot audits and safety inspections, identifying hazards and driving corrective actions.
6. Ensure business compliance with Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, H&S Regulations, PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, RIDDOR, DSEAR, Irish Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005
7. Review workshop, yard, fleet and facility safety standards.
8. Manage contractor and visitor safety compliance across sites.
9. Lead and review risk assessments for workshops, equipment, chemicals, lifting equipment, and transport activities.
10. Develop, implement and update safe working procedures for hazardous tasks.
11. Monitor completion of actions arising from risk assessments.
12. Lead investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses.
13. Produce detailed reports with root cause analysis and preventative recommendations.
14. Ensure RIDDOR (UK) and HSA (Ireland) reporting requirements are met.
15. Deliver Health & Safety training, toolbox talks and practical assessments to employees and managers.
16. Organise and monitor third-party H&S training.
17. Maintain oversight of training records and refresher requirements.
18. Act as a point of contact for safety concerns and guidance.
19. Maintain accurate records of inspections, risk assessments, incidents, training and contractor documentation.
20. Prepare Health & Safety performance reports for senior management.
21. Ensure safety documentation is accessible, up to date and audit-ready.
22. Utilise digital Health & Safety systems to track compliance and actions.
23. Participate in Health & Safety Committee meetings and operational meetings.
24. Provide technical advice and recommendations to senior leaders.
25. Represent the business during HSE / HSA inspections and external audits.

26. Reduction in accidents, incidents and near misses across the depot network.
27. 100% completion of scheduled audits and inspections.
28. All statutory reporting completed within legal timescales.
29. Risk assessment actions completed within agreed timeframes.
30. Positive audit outcomes from internal and external inspections.
31. Training compliance maintained across all depots.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Essential
32. NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent Level 6)
33. GradIOSH or CMIOSH (or actively working towards Chartered status)
34. Full UK Driving Licence
35. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Health & Safety role within:Transport, fleet, logistics, engineering or workshop environmentsMulti-site operational businesses
36. Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and Irish H&S legislation.
37. Extensive experience conducting audits, risk assessments and accident investigations.
38. Experience influencing operational managers and senior stakeholders.
39. Experience delivering H&S training and promoting safety culture.
40. Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital H&S management systems.
Desirable
41. NEBOSH Fire Safety / Environmental qualification (or IEMA)
42. Accident investigation qualification
43. Experience with Safety Culture or similar digital H&S platforms
44. First Aid / Fire Marshal certification
45. Knowledge of fleet compliance and yard management risks
