Support services business operating within the defence sector require a Procurement Buyer. Applicants should have experience in procurement, ideally as a Buyer (direct or indirect) within a regulated environment; aerospace, defence, or public sector organisation.
The Procurement Buyer will join a multi-disciplined Procurement team providing the business with a full lifecycle procurement offering from; tendering, purchase order management, supplier onboarding/management and contracts management. The Procurement Buyer will support day-to-day execution of procurement operations, alongside contributing to broader commercial and contract management strategies.
Specific duties of the Procurement Buyer include:
Purchase and Word order placement in SAP
Front-end sourcing and tendering activities; supplier selection, invitation, tender and evaluation
Supplier onboarding and due diligence activities
Managing and monitoring of supplier, supply chain and contracts performance
Ownership of procurement department data to identify saving opportunities, and strong/poor supplier performance
Stakeholder engagement - understand procurement strategies and encourage governance and compliance with procurement procedures, policies and systems
Procurement Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:
Previous experience in procurement, supply chain, supplier or contract management role
Experience in or affinity too; aerospace, defence, public sector or engineering industry
Relationship-building skills, internally with stakeholders and externally with suppliers and supply chain partners
Previous experience with procurement systems, e-sourcing tools or procurement within a matrix structure
An appreciation of full lifecycle procurement activities from tendering, negotiations to SRM and contract management
