Investigating Officer Location: Belfast Salary: £39,862 per annum Contract: Initial 3 months (possibility of extension) The Role An opportunity has arisen for an Investigating Officer to join a busy public sector team in Belfast. The successful candidate will play a key role in the impartial assessment and investigation of complaints, ensuring fair and evidence-based outcomes. The role will involve managing a varied caseload, undertaking thorough analysis, conducting interviews, and preparing detailed written reports. Key Responsibilities Investigate and analyse complaints in line with legislative and procedural frameworks. Identify key issues and make proportionate enquiries to gather relevant information. Analyse evidence and draft clear, well-reasoned reports and recommendations. Carry out interviews with relevant parties and witnesses. Communicate effectively with service users, public bodies, and stakeholders. Manage and prioritise caseloads to meet performance standards and deadlines. Maintain accurate case management records and high-quality written outputs. Candidate Criteria Essential: Educated to degree level (or equivalent) with 2+ years' relevant experience in evidence-based analysis and reporting; OR 4+ years' relevant experience without a degree. Strong analytical skills with the ability to use sound judgement to support decisions. Experience interpreting legislation, codes, or procedural requirements. Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise reports. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage complex caseloads to tight deadlines. Interpersonal skills with the ability to handle robust challenge while demonstrating empathy. Experience conducting interviews to gather information.
