Location: Wandsworth, South West London
Contract: October 2025 July 2026 (Term-Time Only)
Pay: £444 per week (PAYE)

Are you a Psychology Graduate eager to support children with social, emotional, and mental health needs as an SEMH Teaching Assistant this October?

A welcoming, 1-form entry primary school in Wandsworth is recruiting an SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated support team. This role is ideal for graduates looking to gain practical experience before pursuing careers in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Behavioural Support.

About the School:
Community primary school serving a diverse population aged 211
Beautiful, historic building with modern classrooms, new facilities, and expansive outdoor areas for play and learning
Recent expansion with two new early years provisions (ages 23) and a planned 9-month setting
Over 60% of pupils with EAL and 49 different languages represented
Brand-new, ambitious SLT team with a strong commitment to inclusion and staff development
Five new teachers, including three ECTs, creating a collaborative and values-driven environment
School ethos: Value-based hires skills can be taught
Mornings focus on academic learning; afternoons on social, emotional, and personal development

The Role:
Supporting children with SEMH needs across EYFS and KS1
Providing 1:1 emotional regulation and classroom support
Implementing behaviour and nurture interventions designed by the SENCO and pastoral team
Building positive relationships and modelling resilience and empathy
Hours: 08:3015:30 with a 30-minute break

Were Looking For:
A minimum of a 2:1 degree in a BPS-accredited Psychology or related subject
Empathetic, calm, and proactive approach to supporting children
Experience in SEMH or pastoral settings is beneficial but not essential
BSL (British Sign Language) skills are desirable but not essential
An Enhanced DBS
