Senior Quantity Surveyor - Main Contractor Salary: £80,000 - £85,000 per annum Comprehensive Executive Benefits Location: Central London Contract: Permanent Atkinson Baker Associates are currently recruiting a highly capable and commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a highly respected, dynamic Main Contractor. The Client Our client is a fast-growing, financially robust construction business with a fantastic reputation for delivering high-quality schemes across London and the South. They deliver a diverse portfolio of projects spanning both traditional builds and complex Design & Build (D&B) schemes. Known for their collaborative team culture, high standards, and strong pipeline of London-based projects, they require a heavy-hitting commercial lead to take ownership of key upcoming developments. The Role As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take full commercial ownership of complex projects from inception through to final accounts. You will be comfortable managing the complete commercial lifecycle, including pre-contract, in-contract, and post-contract phases. Your duties will include: Pre-Contract: Leading the procurement process, preparing robust tender documents, conducting detailed cost planning, and negotiating with sub-contractors and suppliers. In-Contract Administration: Taking full commercial control of live projects, managing both traditional JCT and Design & Build (D&B) contracts to ensure strict commercial compliance and risk mitigation. Post-Contract & Reporting: Managing accurate cash flow forecasting, valuations, variations, Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), and successfully negotiating final accounts. Team Leadership: Mentoring and developing Assistant and Intermediate Quantity Surveyors, ensuring the wider commercial team operates efficiently. Stakeholder Management: Acting as the senior commercial point of contact for clients, architects, and external consultants. Requirements Essential: A proven, demonstrable track record operating as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a Main Contracting environment. Essential: Comprehensive experience managing the full commercial lifecycle (pre, in, and post-contract). Essential: Extensive, practical knowledge of both Design & Build (D&B) and traditional JCT contracts. Essential: Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (MRICS status is highly desirable but not strictly essential). Location: You must be comfortable commuting to and managing projects based in Central London. What's on Offer Salary: £80,000 to £85,000 basic salary.
