As our company grows and develops, we are ever expanding our teams. We have a great opportunity for a dedicated Director to join our Delay team in the Advisory Division.
SOCOTEC Advisory is a chartered quantity surveying and expert witness consultancy, renowned for its team of industry-recognised experts and delivery of robust and quality services. Our team is made up of approximately 60 Quantity Surveyors with a broad spectrum of experience. This allows the delivery of services across most sectors, including residential, infrastructure and marine, in both public and private sectors and enables expertise to be shared across the company.
We are looking for a proactive, reliable and flexible Director to Lead and oversee the delay team department with strategic responsibility for delay analysis services reporting to the Senior Director.
Provide senior-level expertise to clients and legal teams while driving business development and team growth.
Responsible for developing organizational strategy, managing key client relationships, and ensuring delivery of high-quality forensic analysis services across multiple concurrent appointments.
You should have and demonstrate strong skills in some or all of the following:
* Professionally qualified with significant experience in delay dispute claims
* Organise and co-ordinate the work of other staff and liaising with client team members
* Confidently represent the company both with clients and third parties and externally to other professionals and key individuals
* Excellent report writing skills including competence to prepare reports (or parts thereof) suitable to use in adjudication, arbitration or litigation
* Excellent forensic analysis skills for delay and project management tasks
* Competent to analyse delay in construction and infrastructure projects using any appropriate analysis methodology
* Capable to select and implement an analysis methodology to suit the particular circumstances of the appointment
* Independent critical evaluation of project management performance
* Legal and contractual understanding of the status of expert evidence in adjudication, Arbitration and Litigation
* Highly knowledgeable in construction processes and technologies
* Commitment to lifelong learning
* Ability to share knowledge through mentoring and training
* Good management skills in identifying work activities to be completed and collaborating to resolve the tasks
* Management skills to identify and match available resources and skills with applicable deadlines
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
Qualifications
* Degree in Construction Management or related field
* MCIArb or FCIArb qualification highly preferred
* Relevant MSc in engineering and/ or Construction Law and Disputes LLM is desirable
Experience & Expertise
* Proven track record as lead expert witness in major arbitration/litigation cases
* Extensive knowledge of construction processes, contracts and project management
* Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management

Technical Skills
* Expert-level proficiency in delay analysis methodologies
