A co-educational independent day and boarding school in Wellington, Somerset, serving pupils aged 3 to 18. Catering for 800 students and staff, including 220 boarders, the school offers breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, after-school clubs, dinner, house supplies, and boarding treats. This role involves a significant amount of hospitality work.
This is a 7-day operation, with a working pattern of 5 out of 7 days.
We have an excellent opportunity for a General Assistant to join our team in Somerset.
Previous experience in a fast-paced catering environment is preferred.
You will enjoy working with a great team for a company passionate about food and customer service.
Key responsibilities:
* Support the team with serving customers, replenishing stocks, and cleaning.
* Prepare service areas for each meal service.
* Set up, serve, clear, clean, and store food, beverages, or equipment for special functions.
* Prepare basic food items following hygiene and safety standards.
* Restock and replenish supplies during service to ensure excellent customer service.
* Manage waste and recycling appropriately.
* Occasionally work evenings and weekends for events.
* Adhere to food standards, control wastage, and follow hygiene and safety policies, including allergen procedures.
Skills required:
* Teamwork, good listening skills, initiative, personal presentation, hygiene, and behavior.
* Food hygiene certificate is preferred.
* Flexibility, reliability, honesty, and customer-focused attitude.
* Willingness to learn and take responsibility.
* Ability to handle moderate lifting and carrying.
* Proficiency in verbal and written English.
* Experience in customer service or food prep is advantageous.
