Mobile Plant Operator Location: Barton Under-needwood Salary: Competitive About the Role We are looking for a skilled Mobile Plant Operator to join our team. This role is primarily responsible for operating hydraulic excavators to extract sand and gravel, loading materials into dumper trucks, and supporting operations across the site. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient production while maintaining high standards of equipment operation and health & safety compliance. Key Responsibilities Operate hydraulic excavators to excavate sand and gravel and load materials onto dumper trucks for transport to the central processing plant Ensure all machinery is operated safely, efficiently, and in line with company procedures Operate other mobile plant machinery as required by Site Management, where certified to do so Carry out routine maintenance and inspections on mobile plant equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and Heidelberg Materials standards Assist with tasks within the main processing plant when required and within capability Follow all site-specific procedures and operational instructions Adhere strictly to Health & Safety policies and procedures at all times Comply with the Quarry Regulations 1999 Skills & Experience Required Proven experience operating mobile plant machinery, particularly hydraulic excavators Strong understanding of safe working practices within a quarry or similar environment Ability to work independently and as part of a team Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to follow instructions effectively Good awareness of maintenance requirements for heavy plant machinery Qualifications GCSE grade 4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English EPIC certification for operating mobile plant equipment NVQ Level 2 in Mobile Plant Operations (or willingness to achieve following EPIC completion) Solid understanding of Health & Safety regulations and Quarry Regulations What We Offer Competitive salary and benefits package Ongoing training and development opportunities A strong safety-focused working environment Opportunity to work with a leading organisation in the industry Why join us ?
