The Work You’ll Do
:
We are seeking a Sovos compliance knowledgeable Embedded Solution Architect (ESA) to drive the success of our embedded Independent Software Vendor (ISV) partners through strategic onboarding, technical enablement, and ongoing technical relationship management. This role primarily focuses on Sovos product technical expertise but also requires solid business acumen and collaboration skills to ensure our embedded partners maximize value from our platform while accelerating their time-to-market and revenue growth.
More specifically you will:
Partner Onboarding & Enablement
1. Guide our partners through every step of their journey—from the first technical discovery to full production rollout and beyond. You’ll blend high-level strategic vision with technical expertise, ensuring seamless integrations that drive mutual success and lasting relationships.
2. Lead technical discovery sessions with partner engineering teams to understand ISVs system architecture, data models, and integration requirements. Design optimal API integration patterns including RESTful APIs, webhooks, and real-time streaming connections. Evaluate authentication methods (OAuth, JWT, API keys) and recommend security best practices for each partner's specific use case. Architect data synchronization strategies, error handling protocols, and rate limiting approaches that scale with partner growth
3. Design and execute comprehensive technical onboarding programs for embedded partners that educate partners on Sovos integration and usage best practices while ensuring a smooth technical integration leading to delivering great solutions in a timely manner.
4. Serve as the primary technical point of contact throughout the partners lifecycle; build and maintain strong relationships with partner technical leaders, architects, and development leads.
5. Advise on the design on comprehensive testing frameworks for partner integrations including unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end validation scenarios. Establish automated testing pipelines using tools like Postman, Newman, or custom test harnesses to validate API functionality across different environments.
6. Create performance benchmarking protocols to ensure integrations meet latency and throughput requirements. Implement monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify integration issues and API performance degradation
7. Leverage deep understanding of our products and global e-invoicing and tax regulations to advise ISVs on the most suitable solutions for their product landscape. Partner with our compliance teams to embed the latest regulatory requirements into every integration
Strategic Growth & Optimization
8. Analyze partner technical usage patterns and business metrics to identify expansion opportunities
9. Develop technical strategies to help partners optimize their integrations and improve performance
10. Support partners in achieving technical milestones, certifications, and go-to-market objectives
11. Facilitate connections between partners and relevant internal stakeholders for joint initiatives
12. Monitor partner health metrics and proactively address risks to partnership success
Cross-functional Collaboration
13. Collaborate with internal engineering, professional services, product, and support teams to resolve technical issues and feature requests
14. Work closely with Sales, Partner Account Managers, Professional Services, Support and Marketing teams to ensure aligned partner experience
15. Collaborate with Product Management to influence roadmap based on partner feedback and requirements
16. Partner with Engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues and drive product improvements
17. Support Business Development in technical aspects of new partner evaluations and negotiations
What We Need From You:
Technical Skills
18. Deep knowledge of Sovos Compliance technologies including eInvoicing and/or eReporting
19. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field highly recommended
20. 5+ years of experience in technical customer-facing roles (Customer Success, Solutions Engineering, or Technical Account Management)
21. Demonstrated experience working with ISV / embedded partners, with in-depth knowledge of ordering, purchasing, and invoice generation and exchange processes.
22. Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, APIs, cloud architectures, and integration patterns
23. Experience with modern development technologies (REST APIs, microservices, containerization, CI/CD)
24. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and DevOps practices
25. Knowledge of enterprise software ecosystems and SaaS business models
Business & Relationship Skills
26. Proven track record of managing complex technical relationships with enterprise clients or partners
27. Experience in partner ecosystem management, channel partnerships, or ISV relationships preferred
28. Strong project management skills with ability to coordinate multiple stakeholder initiatives
29. Excellent communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for business audiences
30. Experience conducting executive-level presentations and technical reviews
