Your new role
As Mechanical Chargehand, you will be responsible for leading a team of mechanical operatives on-site, ensuring that all mechanical installations are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. You will act as a key link between the workforce and site management, supporting the successful delivery of this flagship project.This role offers a clear pathway for progression into a management role for the right candidate, based on performance and leadership potential.
1. Supervise and coordinate mechanical operatives
2. Ensure daily tasks arepleted in line with project schedules and quality standards.
3. Interpret mechanical drawings and specifications to guide installation works.
4. Monitor and enforce health & safetypliance on-site.
5. Assist with hands-on mechanical installation as required.
6. Report progress, issues, and resource needs to site management.
7. Support the training and development of junior operatives.
What you'll need to succeed
8. Proven experience as a Mechanical Chargehand/Foreperson or senior mechanical engineer on large-scale construction projects.
9. Strong understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and pipework.
10. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
11. Excellent leadership andmunication skills.
12. Valid CSR or equivalent site safety card.
13. NVQ Level 3 Plumbing/Heating qualification or equivalent.
14. Ambition to progress into a management role.
15. A full UK driving licence is essential.
