Teaching Assistant – Aspiring Gang Prevention Worker - Mental Health - Woking
Would you like to work with young people who need support with their social, emotional, and mental health? Do you have aspirations to work in gang prevention? If so, then this role is not to be missed.
The School:
The school is based near Woking and provides support for children aged 9-16 years with social, emotional, and mental health challenges. All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) detailing their specific needs. The school offers a safe environment, therapies such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy, music, speech, and language therapies, and a curriculum that collaborates with therapists to ensure appropriate support.
What is involved:
* Providing assistance and supervision for children’s behaviour and supporting their learning and participation in class
* Working with a class, small group, or individual learners inside and outside the classroom
* Encouraging social skills development and supporting individual needs
* Helping to build confidence and motivation
* Participating in team meetings and training
* Supporting safeguarding regulations
Requirements:
* An Undergraduate Degree, ideally in Psychology or Criminology
* Knowledge or interest in learning and behavioural needs
* Good education levels in English and Maths – A Levels preferred
* Cooperative, proactive, and problem-solving attitude
* Good interpersonal and communication skills, caring attitude
* Flexibility in working patterns
Summary:
* Roles include Youth Criminal Justice, Gang Prevention, Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant
* £83 to £90 daily rate (full-time, 8.30am-4.00pm, 5 days/week)
* Settings include special needs and mainstream schools with mental health and trauma support
* Roles available ASAP or later in the year, full-time or part-time, flexible hours, short/long-term contracts
