Job Description

Stockport, Greater Manchester MPS (dependent on experience) Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner) Contract: Full-time with a potential option for part time (long-term or permanent opportunity)Hays Education are working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in Stockport with an excellent reputation to recruit a passionate and dedicated Computing Teacher.Your new roleAs a Computing Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will inspire students to develop their knowledge of digital technologies, programming, and computer science in a supportive learning environment.The school has a strong reputation for supporting both students and staff, with a focus on academic achievement, wellbeing, and continuous improvement. Key duties include:

  • Planning and delivering creative Computing lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Teaching core topics such as programming (e.g. Python), systems, networks, and cybersecurity
  • Assessing and monitoring pupil progress, providing constructive feedback
  • Supporting students of varying abilities to reach their full potential
  • Contributing to departmental planning and extracurricular activities where appropriate

What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Have a degree in Computing, IT, or a related subject
  • Have experience teaching Computing at secondary level (ECTs are welcome to apply)
  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and classroom management skills
  • Be passionate about education and committed to student progress
