Overview: First Military Recruitment is currently seeking a Funeral Operative on behalf of one of our clients. The role involves driving and bearing on funerals with great respect, following clear instructions from the garage foreman and the funeral conductor. The operative will respectfully move deceased as required, dress the deceased with extreme care, and facilitate viewings for families and friends. Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be considered.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Driving and bearing on funerals.
2. Removing deceased from houses, nursing homes, and mortuaries.
3. Delivering and collecting coffins to and from airports.
4. Performing duty service according to rota.
5. Delivering and collecting various documents.
6. Dressing deceased in preparation for viewing.
7. Ensuring vehicles are cleaned daily and that oil, petrol, water, etc., are kept at correct levels.
8. Preparing limousines with wreath card envelopes, mass envelopes, flowers, nursing home letters, and ensuring enough song sheets.
9. For Greek funerals, ensure the availability of tables, towels, and water bottles.
10. If using a horse hearse, ensure trestles are available for church entry or a trolley for caskets.
11. Wearing a cap while driving and knowing the locations of churches, houses, or crematoria.
12. Ensuring the availability of trolley, trestles, shoulder pads, and other necessary equipment for carrying coffins.
13. Checking attire before leaving the garage.
