Job Description
We are recruiting a committed and empathetic Healthcare Assistant to join our In-patient Unit at West Midlands Hospice, with the aim of delivering holistic, person-centred end-of-life care and support to individuals in need.
Your responsibilities will include monitoring and assisting with the maintenance of patients’ skin integrity and personal hygiene, observing and supporting nutritional needs, attending to comfort requirements to facilitate rest and sleep, providing mobility support, and maintaining a clean and orderly care environment.
As a Healthcare Assistant you will practice empathetic communication with the patient and those important to them in a supportive, professional manner and provide high quality personal care and support to enhance wellbeing.
Contract: Permanent Position – 37.5 Hours per Week
Work Days: Monday to Sunday, including bank holidays
Shift hours: 07:00-22:00, 22:00-07:30
Salary: £24,465 per Annum, Plus enhancements
Based: In patient unit - West Midlands Hospice
Qualifications
* At least six months of recent experience providing care in a Health or Social Care Environment, including caring for patients at the end of life.
* NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (preferred, not required).
* Be person-centred and compassionate when caring for the person and those important to them.
* Ability to develop and evaluate care management plans that meet the complex needs of the person, and those important to them.
* Emotional resilience and the capacity to work independently.
* A valid driving licence and access to a car for travel to patient homes are required.
