Project Engineer (Civil – Wastewater Infrastructure)\n\nLocation: Thames Valley area / Hybrid\nType: 6-month contract (initial), potential to extend\nRate: £45 - £60 PH – Umbrella (INSIDE IR35)\n\nAbout the Role\n\nCeto Talent are recruiting for our client, seeking an experienced Project Engineer (Civil) to join the infrastructure team on a major capital programme across the Thames Valley region. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Engineer to work on large-scale wastewater (pipeline) projects, though candidates with clean water infrastructure experience will also be considered.\n\nIn this role, you’ll work as part of the intelligent client team, under the direction of a Principal Engineer, to ensure projects meet asset standards, comply with regulations, and deliver best-value solutions that support long-term capital investment goals.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Oversee the development of a portfolio of infrastructure projects to meet defined needs, delivering best-value solutions across various sites.\n\n * Ensure Contractors and Consultants comply with scope requirements, asset standards, legislation, CDM Regulations, and health & safety expectations.\n\n * Provide technical design sign-off, acting as the interface between Asset Management and Capital Delivery teams.\n\n * Offer robust technical assurance during project delivery, commissioning, and asset handover.\n\n * Identify and mitigate project risks to reduce overall programme and delivery costs.\n\n * Support the implementation of an intelligent client model to drive delivery excellence throughout the capital investment lifecycle.\n\nSkills & Experience\n\n * Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering (or relevant discipline).\n\n * Chartered Status (or equivalent) and membership of a relevant professional institution (preferred).\n\n * Post-graduate experience, including recent experience in the water industry on projects aligned with this role.\n\n * Strong track record of leadership, managing teams of 10+ people across comparable projects.\n\n * Demonstrated ability to provide thought leadership and strategic oversight, ensuring technical and delivery excellence.\n\n * Experienced in reviewing and signing off team outputs, with accountability for submissions to the client.\n\n * Candidates with slightly different profiles may still be considered, subject to approval, based on demonstrated capability and relevant experience.\n\nWhy Apply?\n\nThis is a fantastic opportunity to apply your technical expertise on critical infrastructure projects that directly support long-term investment and resilience in the water sector.
