Aspire People are working in partnership with a Primary Academy in Northenden, South Manchester. The Senior Leadership team are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to work with an identified pupil on a 1:1 basis. The pupil is currently in Year 6 and has an EHCP in place for Autism; he can access learning in the classroom but needs support to ensure his sensory needs are met and he remains as regulated as possible. Staff have tried to manage his support internally, but they have identified that he would respond better to a more consistent approach with someone focused on ensuring he can overcome barriers to learning and supporting his wider inclusion in the classroom.
His behaviour is often triggered by sensory deregulation, for example in crowded or noisy environments. The ideal candidate will have experience of supporting children or young people with autism. This may be experience in a school but experience in other settings is also applicable, such as support / respite work, youth work or charity based experience with Autism. You must have a clear passion for supporting those with barriers to learning, with a resilient attitude, understanding this can be a challenging role but also very meaningful and rewarding.
