Power Electronics Engineer (KTP Associate) – Salary £30,000 to £40,000 per annum

About the role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Power Electronics Engineer to join our exciting collaboration between the Power Electronics, Machines and Control (PEMC) Institute and NEMA Ltd in Rochdale. You will take a central role in helping to develop innovative high-frequency, high-power density, wide-bandgap inverter drives for Aerospace Electrical Machines. NEMA design, manufacture, R&O & test electromechanical actuators. They develop advanced electric motors/generators for extreme environments and challenging space envelopes, predominantly for the Aerospace and Defence sectors. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead the delivery of a strategic project. Primarily based at the company\'s premises in Rochdale, you will also spend some time in Nottingham at the PEMC Institute, which is internationally renowned and one of the largest on its field.
Responsibilities
* Develop high-frequency wide-bandgap inverter drives for high-speed Aerospace Electrical machines
* Integration of the drive with NEMA high-speed motor and testing
* Creating a digital twin for a motor drive system
* Work closely with company employees and ensure all work embeds the new knowledge
Requirements
* A post-graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
* Good understanding of power electronics with hands-on experience
* Basic understanding of motor drive control
* Experience of using Matlab/Simulink, PLECS, C Language
* Excellent organisational, communication and team working skills
