Job summary
The post holder is operationally responsible for energy and utility services in the following key specialist fields:
1. Energy and utility management and related regulatory compliance
2. Management of on-site energy generation contracts and Energy Management Systems (EMS)
3. Contract management for third-party service and fuel suppliers
4. Creation and management of a building energy efficiency programme
5. Promotion of effective and efficient use of utility resources across the Trust
6. Reduction of the Trust's energy demand and associated carbon footprint
7. Identification and development of demand reduction initiatives with ongoing support for implementation and monitoring
8. Selection, assessment, feasibility, and implementation of relevant technologies for energy demand reduction
9. Quality and environmental improvements in the service
10. Reporting energy use, carbon impact, and costs
The post holder will act as the primary contact between the Trust and outside agencies such as the Environment Agency, Nottingham City Council's Pollution Control Department, Government Procurement Services (GPS), and energy/utility suppliers regarding contracts, renewals, fluctuations, and compliance. This includes acting as the lead Responsible Person during on-site inspections by emissions control organizations.

The post holder will manage the Trust's Energy Performance contracts, attending contractual and operational meetings, and escalating issues internally as needed.
They will serve as the lead Responsible Person for compiling, preparing, and submitting information for UK Emissions Trading Scheme (UKETS), Display Energy Certificates (DEC), Energy Performance Certificates (EPC), Department of Health ERIC Returns, and other environmental permits and reports. They will monitor upcoming regulatory changes, lead their implementation, and report on implications to the Trust.
The post holder will maintain systems for monitoring and targeting energy and utility consumption across the Trust and provide expert advice to help meet energy and emissions targets. They will also be responsible for providing detailed consumption and cost data and assisting in setting budgets.
