We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to work within the Manufacturing Engineering Team. Supporting all operations areas of the Titchfield site and providing day-to-day support to the production areas in achieving production schedule, product quality, product cost, and employee safety goals.
We are seeking a highly skilled NPI (New Product Introduction) Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer to lead the industrialisation of new aerospace products from concept through production readiness. This role is responsible for ensuring that new designs are manufacturable, cost effective, robust, and compliant with aerospace quality standards. You will collaborate closely with design engineering, operations, supply chain, and quality to deliver smooth product launches that meet programme cost, schedule, and performance goals.
Responsibilities
* NPI & Industrialisation
* Lead end‑to‑end NPI activities using gated project frameworks (e.g. MRL, PPAP, AS9145, ProLaunch).
* Develop and execute manufacturing plans, readiness reviews, and standard operating procedures.
* Drive Design for Manufacturability & Assembly (DFMEA/PFMEA) reviews with engineering teams.
* Define production process flow, routings, and required tooling/fixturing.
* Support prototype builds, engineering trials, and qualification runs.
* Creation of additive manufactured tooling, Poka Yoke fixturing, using CAD modelling.
* Manufacturing Engineering
* Develop detailed manufacturing work instructions, standard work, and build documentation.
* Perform tolerance analysis, process capability studies, and risk assessments (PFMEA).
* Identify opportunities for automation, process optimisation, and cost reduction.
* Specify and validate manufacturing equipment, gauges, and special processes.
* Support root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions using structured problem solving (8D, 5 Why, DMAIC).
* Ensure manufacturing processes comply with aerospace standards (AS9100, NADCAP, internal specs).
* Support qualification testing, certification activities, and production readiness reviews.
* Cross‑Functional Collaboration
* Work closely with design engineering to influence product design early in development.
* Coordinate with supply chain and suppliers to ensure manufacturability and process capability.
* Partner with operations to ensure smooth handover from development to production.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Aerospace Engineering is preferred.
* Experience in aerospace or a similarly regulated mechanical manufacturing environment.
* Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
* Demonstrated experience and involvement with NPI projects.
* Strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes such as assembly & integration, fuel systems, and special processes (heat treatment, surface finishing, part marking, etc.).
* Experience with automation, digital manufacturing, or Industry 4.0 technologies (e.g. AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS).
* Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
* Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and work in fast‑paced environments.
* Detail oriented with a passion for process excellence.
