About the recipient
Applicants wanted to work with a 15-year-old male with Autism and learning difficulties.
This young person is a very active and energetic with an intense love of football and other outdoors high energy activities. They enjoy going to various museums especially military based ones. They prefer activities that allow them to be 1:1 and can struggle in high stimuli or busy environments. They can also struggle in groups of people and prefers one to one relationship.
They struggle to go out in the community on their own due to their needs so a applicant should be willing to assist and provide encouragement to access the community.
This young person requires an applicant who is willing to build a consistent and strong relationship, the applicant should also have an experience of working with SEN. A driver is also preferred to allow for days outings.
About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
1. Encouraging the recipient to engage in activities.
2. Helping to improve their social skills.
3. Settling and supporting the individual.
4. Keeping them safe in the community.
5. Helping to fulfil their potential and aspirations.
6. Attending/transporting the individual to social activities and appointments.
7. Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.
About the candidate
The suitable candidate must:
8. Be conscientious and committed to providing support as necessary for the child.
9. Be patient, caring and understanding.
10. Be able to build a positive relationship with the child to both encourage and support them.
11. Be flexible to meet the needs of the family.
12. Have knowledge of working with or supporting a child with special needs.
