Overview
Working within a Regional Hearing Centre (RHC), you will support the effective administration of Tribunals business on a national scale by undertaking a range of complex case work and assessment activity to determine how best to advance caseloads and remove barriers to timely case progression. You will work independently with support from a wider team, make informed decisions on processing appeals to improve access to justice, and liaise with key stakeholders and HMCTS colleagues to ensure effective administration of justice. This is an office-based position with expectation to attend the specified office in person. Occasional travel to other courts may be required.
Responsibilities
* Undertake complex case work and assessment activities to determine how best to progress caseloads and remove barriers to timely progression.
* Make case management decisions under delegated judicial powers and in line with supervisory guidance.
* Liaise with key stakeholders and HMCTS colleagues to ensure effective administration of justice.
* Engage with court users in a confident, impartial and accessible manner, adapting communications to different audiences and stakeholders.
Working arrangements
* This is an office-based role with potential for non-contractual hybrid working, but no guarantees for home working. Minimum 60% of working time in an office may apply depending on local arrangements.
* Standard full-time hours are 37 per week. HMCTS welcomes part-time, flexible and job-sharing patterns where they meet role requirements and are agreed prior to appointment.
* Occasional travel to other sites may be required.
Qualifications and experience
* A law degree or equivalent technical experience is desirable. Equivalent technical experience means demonstrated transferable decision-making aptitude within a framework or guidance and precedents under supervision.
* Ability to reflect on issues, take informed and impartial approach, and make evidence-based decisions. Strong written and verbal communication with multiple stakeholders internal and external to the Tribunal.
Security and eligibility
* Level of security checks: DBS Basic.
* Candidates must have the legal right to live and work in the United Kingdom and comply with UK Immigration Rules. The role’s sponsorship eligibility follows current immigration rules and transitional provisions.

* Hybrid Working arrangements may be offered where business needs allow; arrangements discussed and agreed with successful candidate, subject to regular review.
