Cloud Engineer
Location: United Kingdom - Remote
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Full-time (Monday-Friday)
Reporting to: Global IT Infrastructure Manager
Overview:
Hardman Grey Recruitment is currently seeking a Cloud Engineer on behalf of our client, a global leader in specialty chemicals.The company develops advanced solutions that enhance the performance of products across industries such as electronics, automotive, industrial surface finishing, consumer packaging, and offshore energy.
The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for the delivery, management, and enhancement of the company's global cloud infrastructure, with a focus on Microsoft Azure, backup, and disaster recovery solutions. This role is a critical part of the IT Infrastructure team, working cross-functionally to ensure secure, scalable, and reliable cloud services that support the company's global operations.
The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for:
* Administering and maintaining the company's Microsoft Azure cloud environment.
* Owning and managing backup platforms (Commvault) and disaster recovery solutions (Azure Site Recovery).
* Designing and implementing infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, ARM, or Ansible.
* Automating processes and building scripting solutions with PowerShell.
* Implementing cloud security controls, compliance policies, and governance frameworks.
* Providing third-tier support and solution design for enterprise-wide cloud infrastructure services.
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams across infrastructure, security, applications, and program management.
* Supporting migrations, integrations, and modernization of global IT infrastructure.
* Developing documentation, procedures, and standards for cloud infrastructure.
Participating in global projects and occasional travel for implementations and team meetings.
The ideal Cloud Engineer candidate will have:
* A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* 5+ years of IT experience, with years in infrastructure/cloud engineering within a global environment.
* Hands-on Microsoft Azure expertise (4+ years), including compute, storage, networking, and monitoring.
* Experience with Windows Server technologies, storage solutions, and identity/access management.
* Advanced PowerShell scripting for automation.
* Proficiency in CI/CD practices using Azure DevOps, and version control with Git/GitHub.
* Experience with Commvault or equivalent backup platforms and disaster recovery frameworks.
* Familiarity with ITIL practices and service management standards.
