HS&E Advisor
Location: Newmarket
Shift: 40 hours per week
Monday to Thursday: 21:30 - 07:00 (1-hour break)
Friday: 19:30 - 01:30
Experience Required
Familiarity with management systems such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 is advantageous.
Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, with the ability to apply this knowledge in practical situations.
Ideally, a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar manufacturing environment.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, exercising initiative as needed.
Excellent verbal and written communication and people management skills at all levels.
Proficient in organising and planning personal and team workloads as necessary.
Qualifications
NEBOSH General Certificate is essential; a diploma is preferred.
IEMA or another relevant environmental qualification is desirable.
Auditing qualifications in ISO 45001, ISO 14001, or similar are a plus.
Preference for candidates with recent experience in a business setting rather than consultancy roles.

Duties
Collaborate with a dedicated HS&E team.
Monitor and review operational processes to ensure compliance and effectiveness, implementing protective and preventative measures as needed.
Liaise with colleagues to maintain a consistent health and safety approach across all sites, including occasional visits.
Assist the HS&E Manager in ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and updating relevant policies and procedures.
Conduct and document workplace risk assessments, producing safe systems of work as needed.
Facilitate HS&E induction training for new team members and site visitors while monitoring existing staff.
Develop and deliver HS&E training courses and toolbox talks on relevant topics.
Prepare external training materials and assist with the implementation of training plans.
Conduct investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
Carry out site inspections, documenting observations, near misses, and incidents.
Coordinate with the Company's Occupational Health service for appointments.
Ensure compliance with site rules, procedures, and safe working practices for visitors and customers.
Conduct HS&E audits in line with ISO 45001 procedures and assist with the implementation of necessary changes.
Participate in ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 external audits as required.
Propose HS&E initiatives to enhance workplace safety and well-being, aiming to reduce incident rates.
Suggest environmental initiatives to minimise the carbon footprint and enhance sustainability.
Aid in the planning and execution of operational inspections and monitoring as per current legislation.
Manage the contractor evaluation process and oversee on-site contractor compliance.
Ensure compliance with legislation, management systems, and company procedures during site inspections.
Communicate effectively with all employees to promote active engagement in HS&E matters.
Attend training courses as necessary.
In this pivotal role within the Health and Safety Team, you will protect employees and others affected by our clients operations. Your expertise will help control workplace risks and ensure the Company meets current safety standards and legal requirements. You will communicate effectively at all levels to disseminate the health and safety message and will be instrumental in planning, developing, and implementing new policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.
Your responsibilities will involve spending equal time in the office and on-site, reviewing activities to ensure adherence to risk assessments and safe systems, conducting training, and overseeing training plans. You will also handle incident investigations, analyse trends, and work closely with employees to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement
