Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Rotherham
Academics, acting as an agency, are recruiting an enthusiastic and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant for flexible, temporary ongoing work within a range of supportive and inclusive schools across Rotherham.

Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham, South Yorkshire
Contract: Flexible working pattern, temporary ongoing
Pay: £90 – £125 per day (paid via PAYE – no umbrella company fees)
Start Date: ASAP or from a start date that suits you
About the Role
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to deliver high-quality support across a range of year groups. You may lead learning activities, run interventions, and take responsibility for whole classes in the teacher’s absence.
This role is ideal for candidates who hold either a degree or a Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification and are confident supporting pupils across the primary curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver planned lessons, group interventions and targeted support
• Lead full classes independently when required
• Support teachers with preparation of learning resources
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in lessons
• Provide clear feedback on pupil progress to teachers
• Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
Candidate Requirements
✔ Degree or Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification (essential)
✔ Strong understanding of the primary curriculum
✔ Confident in leading learning and managing behaviour
✔ Excellent communication and organisational skills
✔ Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
