We have been assigned by one of the UK's most prestigious NHS Trusts to help recruit a Specialty Doctor in Adult Psychiatry on either a Substantive or NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful department.
Our client provides mental health care to people living in West Midlands who are experiencing mental health problems. The Trust serves a culturally and socially diverse population of 1.2 million across 172 square miles, with an income exceeding £200 million, making it one of the largest mental health Foundation Trusts in the country. The Trust also has contracts outside Birmingham and Solihull for various services, and generates significant income from training, education, and research activities. With over 4,000 dedicated staff, the Trust is committed to “Help People Get Better” and challenging mental health stigma. It operates from over 140 sites, ranging from community mental health teams to acute wards and day centres. Although the overall rating is “Requires improvement,” the Community Teams are rated “Good” by the CQC.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
1. Providing assessments for patients with mental health issues referred by General Practitioners or transferred from other services, including psychiatric liaison in A&E departments.
2. Formulating care plans based on evidence-based practices.
3. Developing risk assessment and management plans with the multidisciplinary team, service users, carers, and other agencies.
4. Conducting Mental Health Act assessments when appropriate.
5. Coordinating care with other mental health teams and primary care for continuity and information sharing.
6. Teaching medical students and junior doctors attached to the teams.
7. Managing an individual caseload and participating in clinical governance, audits, and compliance activities.
