Overview

Go back Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust. Anticoagulation Nurse. Note: The closing date is 13 November 2025

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Dorset Healthcare to work for the Anticoagulation service in the West Dorset Locality within the anticoagulation service.

The aim of our service is to provide high quality anticoagulation care closer to patients homes in a variety of community settings. We deliver a 'one-stop shop' to determine patients INRs, via a finger prick test, warfarin dose and next appointment. Our specialist anticoagulation nurses and support staff aim to provide education and support regarding anticoagulation to increase patients understanding and safety whilst on this treatment.

This will be a rewarding position which would suit an enthusiastic and self motivated trained nurse. The post will involve working within the existing team delivering a high standard of care and supporting new developments in clinics across the locality.

Candidates should have proven relevant clinical skills and appropriate NHS experience. A flexible approach will be necessary. Demonstrable independent working and thinking are fundamental to deliver this service.

Prior knowledge of anticoagulation is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

* To work as a skilled member of a team of Anticoagulant Nurses, to provide a high standard of holistic patient-centred care within a nurse-led service
* To act with supervision from the autonomous practitioner to promote specialist patient centred care and establish good relationships with patients and carers
* To communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team offering expert advice and support in the area of anticoagulation therapy

Job responsibilities

For the main duties and responsibilities for this role please read the attached job description and person specification. When completing your application please ensure your supporting statement reflects the criteria set out in these documents by showing how your experience and skills apply to this post.

We understand that using AI can be a useful and supportive tool when completing your application. However, we have also seen an increase in the over-reliance of AI tools which is negatively impacting applications as they remove candidates individuality, and it becomes much harder to get a sense of who you are and your authentic experience. If you do use AI, it should be used to enhance your application and not to create your supporting statement in its entirety. If we suspect you have used AI to create your supporting statement and this does not match your experience, we may withdraw your application.

As part of our vision to have a skilled, diverse and caring workforce, Dorset HealthCare offers support for people getting into work. We offer an employability service to support individuals with application writing, interview skills and other employment support. If you would like or know of anyone who would value this support, please do contact dhc.wideningparticipation@nhs.net
