Role Overview: As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who have a range of additional needs. Your role will involve supporting their educational and emotional development, facilitating learning activities, promoting independence within the classroom and supporting the SENCO with statutory paperwork. Key Responsibilities: Support the teacher in delivering tailored educational programs for pupils with special needs. Provide one-to-one support and encouragement to pupils as needed. Help implement Additional Needs Plans and provision as set out on EHCPs, monitoring their progress. Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents. Support a child with medical needs, in the INA’s absence including covering breaks, being trained with tracheostomy care and emergency changes. Collate and complete administrative tasks including; typing up SEND meeting notes onto provision map, gathering information from teachers for SEND referral forms, inputting pupil details to SEND referral forms and sending out paperwork in preparation for EHCP Annual Reviews. We want someone who has: Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs Strong communication and interpersonal skills. A compassionate and patient approach to working with children. Experience or a willingness to embrace therapeutic thinking. Produce accurate and up-to-date records and reports as required. Differentiate learning resources to meet the complex needs of the pupils, supporting teaching assistants with resources and advice.
