About the Company: Hex Energy is a leading provider of sustainable heating and cooling solutions, specialising in the design, installation, and maintenance of air source and ground source heat pump systems for both domestic and commercial clients. With the rapid growth of renewable energy technologies, we are expanding our service team and seeking an experienced Service and Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic and forward-thinking company.
Role Overview
The Service & Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, servicing, fault diagnosis, and repairs on air source and ground source heat pump systems across a wide range of properties — from private homes to large commercial buildings. You will ensure all systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards, while providing excellent customer service and technical support.
Key Responsibilities
 * Perform routine service, maintenance, and inspection of heat pump systems (ASHP & GSHP).
 * Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration components.
 * Conduct performance checks to ensure systems are operating efficiently.
 * Complete service documentation, reports, and compliance paperwork accurately and on time.
 * Provide technical advice and support to customers on system performance and energy efficiency.
 * Work closely with the installation and commissioning teams when required.
 * Maintain safe working practices and adhere to all health & safety regulations.
 * Participate in an on-call rota for emergency breakdowns (where applicable).
 * Keep up to date with industry standards, manufacturer training, and renewable energy developments.
Essential Skills & Experience
 * Proven experience servicing and maintaining air source and/or ground source heat pump systems.
 * Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
 * G3 Unvented hot water.
 * NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification in Plumbing, Heating, Refrigeration, or Electrical Engineering.
 * Good knowledge of heat pump controls and diagnostics (e.g. Mitsubishi, Daikin, NIBE, Vaillant, etc.).
 * Full UK driving licence.
 * Excellent communication and customer service skills.
 * Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Desirable (Preferred) Qualifications
 * Experience with BMS or control systems.
 * Electrical qualification (e.g. 18th Edition).
 * Experience working on commercial-scale systems.
 * Manufacturer training or certification.
