Airside Driver
Location: Airport Airside (Security Restricted Area)
Contract Type: Temp to Perm
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 2 off
Shift Length: 8.5 hours per shift
Shift Types: Mixture of earlies and lates
Pay & Overtime
* Monday to Friday: Basic Pay Rate × 1.5
* Saturdays, Sundays & Bank Holidays: Basic Pay Rate × 2
Role Overview
We are recruiting Airside Drivers to work within a secure airport environment. The role involves operating a variety of vehicles airside, ensuring strict adherence to aviation safety, security regulations, and operational procedures. This is a fast-paced, safety-critical role requiring reliability, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Minimum Licence & Experience Requirements
Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
* HGV Class 2 / Category C licence - Experience driving vehicles over 18 tonnes, OR
* Bus / Coach Driver - Minimum 2 years’ experience, ideally including double-deck vehicles, OR
* 7.5 Tonne Driver - Minimum 2 years’ experience
Desirable Experience
* Previous airside driving experience, particularly on vehicles over 18 tonnes
* Experience working in regulated or high-security environments
Skills & Personal Attributes
* Good level of physical fitness – essential
* Ability to understand and follow instructions
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* High sense of ownership and responsibility
* Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines
* Strong commitment to Health & Safety compliance at all times
Security & Compliance Requirements
Due to the nature of this role, candidates must be able to provide:
* HMRC 5-year employment history (official PAYE/employment record)
* Full 5-year address history
* Right to Work in the UK
* DBS check
* Satisfactory references covering any employment gaps
HMRC employment history must clearly show all employment and any gaps over the last 5 years. This is a mandatory requirement for airside pass approval.
