Data Analyst (Contract) Location: Somerset (Hybrid working – number of on-site days to be confirmed) Rate: £300 – £377 per day IR35 Status: Inside IR35 Contract Duration: Until end of December 2026 Job Purpose / Overview The Data Analyst will provide analytical and data management support to a site-based Joint Design Office (JDO). The role is responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and actionable insights to support engineering decision-making across design, manufacture, and construction activities. Working closely with engineering managers and reporting leads, the Data Analyst will manage multi-source datasets, develop dashboards and reports, and ensure data integrity to enable effective performance monitoring and continuous improvement. Operating Environment The Joint Design Office is a collaborative, site-based engineering organisation that integrates a Responsible Designer function alongside multiple third-tier designers to resolve site-based design issues. The Data Analyst operates within this multi-disciplinary environment, supporting the Engineering Support function and engaging across JDO branches to deliver reliable and trusted data solutions. Framework & Boundaries Operates within established Information Management Systems (IMS) and data governance standards. Supports compliance with relevant quality and regulatory frameworks (e.g. ISO 9001, GSR-3). Works under the direction of the Engineering Reporting Lead. Influences data-driven decisions without direct line management responsibility. Adheres to agreed reporting cycles, confidentiality, and information security requirements. Principal Accountabilities Perform weekly and monthly updates of data received from engineering managers and key stakeholders. Clean, reconcile, validate, and align incomplete or inconsistent data from multiple sources. Link datasets to create unified and repeatable reporting views. Develop and maintain dashboards and self-service reporting solutions (Power BI preferred). Track delivery performance and highlight emerging risks, issues, and trends. Support the preparation of monthly Senior Leadership reports with clear narratives and visuals. Interface with internal stakeholders to manage data sources and resolve data quality issues. Engage with external stakeholders as required to unblock data dependencies. Troubleshoot and resolve data input issues to enable reliable data loading. Support change management and configuration monitoring activities. Document processes and maintain data dictionaries to ensure transparency, traceability, and governance alignment. Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience Essential Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Experience with data visualisation and reporting tools (Power BI preferred). Experience linking, reconciling, and validating data from multiple sources. Strong analytical and numeracy skills. Ability to clearly communicate insights and findings, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and collaborate across disciplines. Desirable General engineering knowledge or experience within engineering or construction environments. Experience working within regulated or quality-driven environments. Advanced Power BI capabilities and experience with VBA automation. SQL and/or Python experience
