We embrace AI to enhance our operations while valuing human talent. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical & Electrical Projects Manager to support the delivery of capital projects across the Council's estate.
Responsibilities
* Lead the mechanical and electrical design and project management of allocated capital projects from inception to completion, acting as client lead on M&E matters and ensuring statutory compliance, technical quality and value for money.
* Deliver feasibility, options appraisal, design development, specification, procurement, contract administration and construction delivery.
* Manage and coordinate external consultants, contractors and specialists, working closely with project teams and stakeholders to ensure building services solutions are fully integrated and projects remain on programme and within budget.
* Conduct regular site visits and liaise with senior officers, members and other stakeholders as required.
Qualifications
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Project or Construction Management, or an equivalent relevant discipline.
* Professional membership with CIBSE, IMechE, IET, CIOB or a similar body is desirable.
* Proven experience of delivering mechanical and electrical projects across design and construction stages, including managing external consultants and contractors involved in M&E design and installation.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical design and construction processes, and understanding of statutory frameworks including the Building Safety Act 2022, CDM 2015, Building Regulations and CIBSE standards.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to present technical matters clearly to non-specialists.
* Good ICT skills, including Office 365; familiarity with design and engineering software outputs is beneficial.
* Ability to manage project budgets, risk and contract administration under JCT and NEC arrangements.
* Full driving licence and access to a vehicle, as this post is an essential car user role and will involve site visits and attendance outside normal office hours.
* Designated customer facing role under the fluency duty, requiring a specified level of spoken English as per the person specification.
