Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Cheshire
Salary: £45k+ (overtime available)
Shift Pattern: 3 shift rotating x 5 days a week (Sunday – Thursday night shift, Monday- Friday, early/late shift)
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
The Role
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving mechanical systems across our production lines to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive mechanical maintenance on packaging machinery
* Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime
* Work on equipment including packaging machinery, conveyors, labelers, and associated ancillaries
* Support continuous improvement activities to improve machine reliability and performance
* Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety, quality, and site standards
* Accurately record maintenance activities using the site PRD work order system.
* Work closely with production, engineering, and other support teams
About You
* Time-served Mechanical Engineer / Technician or equivalent (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds preferred)
* Proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment
* Strong mechanical fault-finding skills (bearings, gearboxes, pneumatics, chains, belts, cams, etc.)
* Experience working on high-speed production machinery is highly desirable
* Basic electrical awareness is an advantage (not essential)
* Proactive, safety-focused, and able to work under pressure
* Willingness to work shifts and respond to breakdowns when required
