Are you a natural storyteller who can bring our message to life?
We're looking for a talented and creative Senior Communications Officer to join our busy team at PA Housing. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who thrives on variety – from leading press and public relations, to shaping resident communications, to creating campaigns that really land.
You'll be a trusted advisor to colleagues, confident in supporting senior leaders, and equally happy rolling your sleeves up to deliver high-quality content. If you love working collaboratively, thinking creatively, and making a positive impact, we'd love to hear from you.
What's in it for you?
In addition to a competitive salary, you'll get access to a range of benefits, including:
* High street discount schemes
* Health cash plans
* 26 days' annual leave, increasing to 29 after three years (plus the option to buy more)
* Flexible bank holidays – use them when it suits you
* Car leasing scheme
* Hybrid working – offering you the flexibility to thrive in your role. You'll have the opportunity to blend the best of both worlds, spending approximately two to three days per week in the office once you are fully trained and up to speed
* We also offer an optional nine-day fortnight scheme, allowing you to compress your hours if it suits the role.
What you'll be doing…
* Lead on press and public relations, responding to media enquiries and seeking opportunities for positive PR
* Manage and promote key corporate documents, including the Annual Report and resident magazine
* Support senior colleagues during crisis communications, sometimes out of hours
* Provide expert communications and copywriting support across the business
* Champion consistent, engaging resident communications, ensuring they are on-brand and high quality
* Contribute to managing PA Housing's website, intranet, and social media channels
* Deliver impactful internal communications and colleague engagement activities
* Act as a brand guardian and support the organisation of events such as staff conferences and open days
* Inject creativity into campaigns and projects — from fresh storytelling ideas to innovative ways of engaging our audiences online and offline
* Deputise for the Head of Communications when required, offering leadership and direction to the team
What we're looking for…
We'd love to hear from you if you:
* Have proven experience in communications, PR, or marketing (at least 2 years in a similar role)
* Are an excellent writer who can adapt tone and style for different audiences
* Are confident working with press, senior stakeholders, and a wide range of partners
* Have great organisational skills and can juggle priorities under pressure
* Are digitally confident, with experience in CMS (Umbraco a bonus), social media, and analytics tools
* Understand communications in the housing sector (or are keen to learn)
* Have a positive, can-do attitude, with strong teamwork and problem-solving skills
* Bring a creative mindset – someone who enjoys exploring new approaches, challenging traditional thinking, and spotting opportunities to make our communications stand out. We're not looking for a specific creative experience, but please let us know what you can bring into the role creatively in "Reason for applying" section of the application
* Are willing to travel and work flexibly when needed
At PA Housing, we believe in respect, integrity, and accountability. Our work is about people – not just properties – and we're always looking for ways to do better. If that sounds like your kind of place, we'd love to hear from you.
