About the role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Water Team as a Water Supply Team Manager working with colleagues to deliver excellent Water Services for our customers, communities and the environment.
In this role you will oversee a team of operators, across multiple Ground Water Stations within the Sunderland area. You’ll be responsible for the day to day running of the Ground Water Stations and will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality and water volumes are maintained and be responsible for driving continuous improvement. Key focusses are on compliance and regulatory requirements, ensuring that health and safety remains a top priority at all times.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of managing a team. This role offers full training to support the successful candidate to complete the various technical aspects of this role. This means we’re seeking someone with transferrable skills and an ambition to work in water treatment.
As a management role, the successful candidate will be responsible for offering constructive feedback that supports colleagues in improving their performance while ensuring they feel valued. You will aim to boost employee engagement by adopting a culture of trust, empowering your team to confidently make decisions and take accountability.
This role provides comprehensive training to help the successful candidate with the technical aspects of the position. Previous experience in the water industry is not required, as we are looking for someone with dynamic leadership skills who can grow and excel in this role.

As a Water Supply Team Manager, you will be an integral part of our frontline operational team. You will be required to participate in a standby roster for out-of-hours operational support, typically on a 1 in 8 week rotation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage and supervise the operations and maintenance of a water treatment works.
2. Implement and monitor visual management systems to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
3. Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Water Quality regulations.
4. Lead and develop a team of Production Operators.
5. Monitor plant performance and implement corrective actions as necessary.
6. Collaborate with other departments to optimise processes and achieve operational goals.
About you
We are looking for candidates with strong leadership skills, capable of motivating and leading by example while encouraging a culture of empowerment that drives a high-performing team.
Our water monitoring system, SCADA, is used daily. While previous experience with SCADA isn't essential, the successful candidate should be confident with technology and possess excellent problem-solving skills, as you'll need to quickly address on-site alarms and make quick decisions when necessary.
The use of visual management techniques to lead and develop the site and team will be a key aspect of the role. Previous experience with visual management is not essential but a willingness to adopt this approach and drive continuous improvement of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People will be key to your success.
A comprehensive induction process will be provided to give you with the necessary water knowledge you will need. Therefore, we are looking for someone who is passionate about continuous learning and eager to expand their knowledge.
This role requires the successful candidate to hold a full valid UK driving licence.
