Our client, a leading manufacturer in Stockport, is looking to recruit a Production Planner to join the business on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in a planning function in a manufacturing engineering environment with exposure to machining. Candidates will be required to create routings for orders and liaise with production engineering to coordinate workload.
Experience working within a Manufacturing Engineering/Assembly-based environment, with exposure to machining, is advantageous. Experience with ERP/MRP systems – ideally SAP – and strong Excel skills are also highly desirable.
Hours – Monday – Thursday 08:00 – 16:30 and Friday 08:00 – 15:30.
This role is available for an immediate start.
Responsibilities
* Develop route cards to ensure the most economic and efficient methods of manufacture, liaising with the programming department.
* Ensure all documentation is issued to the shop floor in a timely manner via work‑to lists.
* Work in conjunction with Stores / Goods Inwards to ensure all materials and kits are available for manufacture & assembly.
* Control all rework operations as a result of NCRs, modifying route sheets if required.
* Participate in pre‑production meetings to determine optimal manufacturing methods.
* Assist the Production Scheduler to ensure each work centre is effectively loaded.
* Provide advice and assistance to the Sales Department to enable quotations to be accurate in terms of cost and lead time.

* Demonstrable experience in production planning.
* Ability to communicate with multiple departments to ensure OTD.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Experience working with MRP systems is advantageous – ideally SAP.
* Strong Excel skills.
* Strong organisational and planning skills.
* Ability to prioritise workload and manage work pressure.
