Why this job matters
Ask HR is a team of HR advisors providing support and guidance for all colleagues across BT Group. For complex queries requiring further investigation, Ask HR will guide or hand off to the relevant specialist team.
The role of the team leader is to lead the Ask HR team, which provides an invaluable service by offering day-to-day people relations support to people managers. The team handles a variety of people relations matters, guiding on policy and procedure, providing advisory support on informal processes, and assisting with formal case management requests. They support case triage, categorization, priority assessment, and complexity evaluation.
Skills and experience you'll need
* Experience working in a fast-paced, demanding HR role, with exposure to people-related issues and cases.
* Knowledge of managing People Relations processes such as sickness absence, performance management, grievance, and misconduct.
* Understanding of wider HR practices and industry standards, including NPS and CSAT.
* Experience in managing a team, preferably from a HR services or customer-facing environment.
* Ability to assess cases efficiently, interpret data, use judgment to assess risk, and escalate when necessary.
* Maintain confidentiality regarding documents, systems, and access to sensitive material within HR.
* Effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
* Deliver exceptional service, handle escalations, and ensure compliant resolution.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Desirable: Hold or be working towards Level 3 CIPD qualification.
