Being a Construction Planner (Airfields and Civils) at London Gatwick, you'll see the impact your work has on the ever-changing landscape of the airport and our passengers. From facilities expansion to security upgrades and runway resurfacing, no two days are the same at London Gatwick. The variety of projects and the live environment will keep you challenged and constantly learning.
To support your journey, you'll be provided with the necessary development to grow. London Gatwick's Construction Department includes several programme and project teams and technical support functions. It is responsible for delivering the airport CIP and strategic growth over the next 5 years, encompassing projects across the campus to deliver fit-for-purpose critical infrastructure.
What is the role?
London Gatwick is evolving rapidly, and this is an exciting opportunity for a Planner to be part of a high-performing team building Gatwick's future infrastructure.
The Planner will operate across all project stages, from early pioneering phases to projects valued up to approximately £50m, providing a full planning service. Responsibilities include managing schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery plan activities. The Planner will also offer technical support and guidance on Work Breakdown Structure, Cost Breakdown Structure, and Resource Loading.
What will you do?
1. Develop and maintain a robust delivery schedule with clear milestones and monitoring activities, considering interdisciplinary constraints and interfaces.
2. Coordinate work sequences with the overall project plan (programme integrated schedule).
3. Monitor schedules, identify critical activities, and update functions for specific disciplines or specialties.
4. Assist in developing and implementing schedule updates and monitoring requirements.
5. Apply installation rates to quantities and review contractor schedules, providing recommendations.
6. Evaluate quantities, staffing, and schedule logic for specific disciplines, and prepare related reports.
7. Manage contract programme assessments, acceptances/rejections, and perform delay analyses.
8. Review quantity logs and develop job hour expenditure estimates for projects.
9. Analyze contractor schedules against baseline, identifying critical path activities and variances.
Do you have what we are looking for?
* Degree/Post-Grad in construction or a related field.
* Typically three years' experience as a planner on projects over £10m is highly desirable.
* Experience with Primavera P6 and MS Excel.
* Experience in planning infrastructure projects in operational environments is preferred.
* Skills in quantity take-offs, statistical analysis, and computer operations.
* Understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up processes.
* Knowledge of financial and mathematical reports.
* Understanding of NEC contracts.
* Good communication skills, both oral and written.
* Awareness of the airport environment is a plus.
* Personal resilience and ability to operate amid ambiguity.
