We are seeking a proactive and experienced Facilities Project Engineer to lead infrastructure, utilities, and process pipework projects on-site. This role is vital in ensuring that all building services and process systems support the business's production and compliance needs. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams and external contractors to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and deliver capital and infrastructure projects, including process pipework, utility upgrades, HVAC, refrigeration, water, drainage, and civil works.
Design, specify, and oversee the installation and commissioning of process and service pipework, ensuring hygienic standards are met.
Manage external contractors and engineering partners to deliver high-quality, compliant installations.
Ensure all project works align with HSE, food safety, and environmental standards.
Support the development and reliability of site utilities such as steam, compressed air, chilled water, effluent, and CIP systems.
Deliver feasibility studies, project proposals, costings, and justification papers for senior leadership.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including P&IDs, process layouts, and contractor files.
Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to integrate projects with minimal disruption.
Lead risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work processes for all project activities.
Contribute to sustainability goals by identifying and implementing energy-saving and efficiency initiatives.
Requirements:
HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
Proven experience managing process pipework and site services projects within a manufacturing environment (ideally food or FMCG).
Strong understanding of hygienic pipework standards, materials (e.g., stainless steel), and installation practices.
Knowledge of utilities infrastructure including steam, compressed air, chilled water, HVAC, and effluent systems.
Solid grasp of regulatory requirements including PUWER, LOLER, Legionella, and CDM.
Confident in managing contractors and coordinating construction/installation works on-site.
Excellent project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and the full Microsoft Office suite.
Familiarity with BRC, HACCP, and food safety regulations
