17th June, 2026 The Opportunity An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Geologist to join a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy based in Leeds. This role is ideal for a candidate with 1-3 years' industry experience who is looking to develop their technical knowledge, gain hands-on site experience and build a long-term career within geotechnical engineering. You will support the delivery of high-quality geotechnical solutions across a varied portfolio of projects, working closely with experienced engineers, geologists and wider multidisciplinary teams. The Role As an Engineering Geologist, you will support the delivery of geotechnical and ground engineering projects from early-stage desk studies through to ground investigations, reporting and technical design input. You will assist with site supervision, preparation of technical reports, ground model development and geotechnical assessments, while continuing to develop your knowledge of earthworks, drilling, grouting techniques, contaminated land and relevant design standards. This is a varied role combining office-based technical work with site-based project involvement. Key Responsibilities: Geotechnical and Technical Delivery Assist with the preparation of desk studies, interpretative reports and geotechnical deliverables Support the development of ground models, geotechnical assessments and design solutions Apply geological and geotechnical principles to support engineering designs Assist with technical problem-solving and design input where required Develop knowledge of earthworks, drilling, grouting, contaminated land and relevant standards Support Preliminary Risk Assessments and intrusive ground investigations Maintain accurate site records, reports and technical documentation Site Investigation and Project Support Assist with the supervision and coordination of ground investigation works Attend site visits and support site-based activities Manage assigned tasks effectively to support project delivery Assist with project and contract management activities, including programme and budget control Support the preparation of fee proposals, tenders and technical submissions Ensure work is completed to a high standard and in line with project requirements Client and Stakeholder Liaison Engage with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders to support successful project delivery Participate in client meetings, site visits and project discussions where appropriate Work closely with civil, structural and geotechnical teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions Communicate technical information clearly and professionally Support business development and marketing activity where opportunities arise Quality, Safety and Professional Development Assist in ensuring work is delivered in accordance with relevant codes, standards and legislation Promote high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance Work in line with CSCS requirements and site safety expectations Learn from senior colleagues and contribute positively to the wider team Take responsibility for personal development and growing technical competence Build awareness of wider civil and structural engineering capabilities within the business About You We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Engineering Geologist with a strong academic background and some practical industry experience. You will have a genuine interest in ground investigation, geotechnical engineering and engineering geology, with the drive to develop your technical ability and professional confidence. You should be proactive, organised and comfortable working across both office and site environments. Essential Requirements Degree in Geology or a related discipline Approximately 1-3 years' relevant industry experience Experience of ground investigation works Exposure to interpretative reporting and ground model development Strong understanding of geology, ground investigation methods and geotechnical principles Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time and workload effectively Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proactive approach to learning and professional development Strong team-working skills within a multidisciplinary environment Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Full UK driving licence Desirable Experience MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline CSCS card, or willingness to obtain one if successful Experience supporting desk studies or Preliminary Risk Assessments Awareness of contaminated land legislation Exposure to drilling, earthworks or grouting techniques Understanding of consultancy project delivery Interest in progressing towards professional qualification Benefits Competitive salary, reflective of experience Structured training and ongoing professional development Support towards professional qualification Varied workload across geotechnical and multidisciplinary projects Opportunity to gain both office and site-based experience Exposure to experienced civil, structural and geotechnical professionals Supportive and collaborative team environment Opportunity to develop technical reporting, site supervision and project delivery skills Clear progression pathway as experience and capability develop Why Apply?
