A high achieving and academically ambitious secondary school in Cambridge is seeking a meticulous and proactive Science Technician to join its well-resourced Science department as soon as possible. The Science department delivers a broad and ambitious curriculum across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, with strong uptake at GCSE and A Level. Practical work is central to teaching and learning, and the successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring lessons run safely, efficiently, and to a high professional standard.
The Role
* Preparing equipment, materials, and chemicals for practical lessons across KS3–KS5
* Supporting complex practical investigations and demonstrations
* Ensuring safe storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals in line with COSHH regulations
* Maintaining laboratory equipment and coordinating servicing or repairs
* Managing stock control and ordering supplies efficiently
* Assisting teachers during practical sessions where required
* Maintaining detailed compliance and health & safety documentation
* Supporting the smooth day-to-day organisation of the Science department
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Previous experience in a laboratory or school-based technician role
* Strong understanding of laboratory health & safety and COSHH procedures
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
* Confidence supporting GCSE and A Level practical work
* A proactive, reliable, and professional approach
