Offer description

Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire
Salary: £32,000 - £35,400
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours per week, average 2 sleep-ins per week, occasional waking nights)

Leader Group is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Senior Residential Support Worker to join a children's home in Bognor Regis, specialising in supporting children and young people aged 7 to 17 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing organisation committed to transforming lives through innovative care and support.
About the Role
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day care and development of children and young people in a nurturing, therapeutic environment. You will support the home's mission to provide tailored care plans that promote repatriation to local communities, facilitate transitions to family, foster care, or independent living, and ensure continuity of relationships into adulthood.
Responsibilities:
* Delivering high-quality, child-centred care, supporting young people to establish their identity and pursue their interests while ensuring their safety and well-being.
* Developing, monitoring, and reviewing individual care plans and risk assessments in collaboration with young people and relevant professionals.
* Promoting positive behaviour, providing consistent boundaries, and responding effectively to challenging situations.
* Supporting young people to maintain meaningful relationships, access education, and engage in enriching experiences that foster personal growth.
* Ensuring safeguarding practices are upheld, recognising and responding to signs of harm or abuse in line with organisational procedures.
* Maintaining accurate records and reports in compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and organisational policies.
* Working in partnership with families, external agencies, and professionals to support the best interests of the young people.
* Contributing to team decision-making and supporting the development of colleagues through supervision and reflective practice.
The role involves working 40 hours per week, with an average of two sleep-ins per week (additional allowance included in salary) and occasional waking nights to meet the needs of the children and young people.
About You
We are seeking dynamic, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference. The ideal candidate will have:
* A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards it (funding provided).
* Experience working with children and young people with SEMH difficulties in a residential or similar setting.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage young people and adapt to their needs and understanding.
* A commitment to safeguarding, with the ability to recognise and respond to concerns effectively.
* Leadership potential to support and guide colleagues, promoting a positive team culture.
* Resilience, empathy, and the ability to manage challenging behaviour consistently and calmly.
* A proactive approach to personal and professional development, engaging in supervision and training opportunities.
Why Join?
This is a rewarding opportunity to join a new children's home at the start of its journey, with the chance to shape its culture and make a lasting impact. Benefits include:
* Private health insurance to support your well-being.
* Comprehensive training and funding for qualifications to support your career progression.
* The opportunity to work in a unique care model focused on repatriation, transition, and long-term support up to age 21.
* A supportive team environment with access to an experienced Responsible Individual and a co-founder who is a Registered General Nurse.
* Career growth potential with plans to open two additional homes in the future.
