This is a 12 Month Secondment opportunity, for internal applicants and a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract, for external applicants. The role comes with Agile Working and Flexible Working will be considered. Flagship’s domestic abuse team work with customers who disclose they are experiencing domestic abuse or where safeguarding concerns are identified by other service areas. This is not an IDVA service and the team will refer customers to specialist domestic abuse support as soon as possible. From there on we work as part of a coordinated response to ensure our customers are supported with particular focus on their housing needs. As an organisation, we are accredited by the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance and strive to maintain the exceptionally high standards we have already demonstrated. As a Domestic Abuse Officer, you will work closely with customers, internal teams and external agencies such as support services and local authorities. The domestic abuse service forms part of the wider Safe Communities Team delivering services related to anti-social behaviour and safeguarding. A typical day or week may include: Conducting risk assessments and making referrals to support agencies. Visiting customers at home to discuss safety of the home and housing options. Ensuring safeguarding for children is completing. Working with internal teams for example where there are rent arrears or repairs. Attending or seeking out opportunities for community safe spaces for survivors to connect. Keeping all casework and notes meticulously up to date and compliant. Applications are welcomed for the role of Domestic Abuse Officer from those with previous experience working in the domestic abuse sector with a sound knowledge of housing implications or those working in housing with experience in supporting customers experiencing domestic abuse. You will be passionate about reducing violence against women and girls, supporting customers of all demographics experiencing abuse and safeguarding children. The role will be based within Suffolk/Essex area primarily but may require travel across all service areas dependent on case demand. The role will require occasional travel to our various office locations to connect with the wider safe communities team. Day to day travel will be expected over the region as well as office/admin based days to concentrate on case work.
