Job Description
CHEP operates a circular economy of pallets; they’re rented out to customers and used throughout their supply chains – we then collect them and bring them back to plant. Our pallet pool is the largest in the UK and our plants process, repair and re-spray thousands of pallets per day, the Spennymoor site process up to 12,000 per day.
We’re looking for someone to take the lead on our Spennymoor Plant near Durham. The site is currently in the middle of a roll-out of a new automated line and have 45 staff operating across two shifts. We’re looking for someone with operational experience who can lead strategy, people, and projects on site.
You will develop a capable team to deliver all plant objectives and drive optimal performance whilst being a champion for our values; safety; customer focus; sustainability; and employee experience. Our Plant Manager will drive the strategic vision for the site and network with internal and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
1. Full site responsibility and project delivery ownership
2. Performance of Durham plant operations.
3. Ensure all Plant activity complies with CHEP Zero harm policies and H&S legislation.
4. Mentor and develop the site Leadership Team
5. Maintain an accurate reporting of stock with a regular audit cycle.
6. Drive a positive employee experience and culture on site
7. Ensure processes are compliant to ISO 45001 and 9001 standards.
8. Drive employee engagement and build relationships with the union
What you’ll need;
9. Prior fast-paced operational management experience in a production, manufacturing, or logistics
10. Proven project delivery experience
11. Experience leading teams in a KPI and safety focused environment
12. Ability to build stakeholder relationships
13. Ideally experience in CI applications do deliver strategic objectives
14. Experience with working within a unionized environment is preferable
