We are looking for a Senior Commercial Manager to join our Building team in Cambridgeshire. The successful candidate will lead the Commercial Management of a major (£25 million - £300 million) defence project during the Tender, Design and Construction Process. This will include managing the commercial function, project finances, and contractual obligations internally and externally.
What you'll do:
1. Act as Commercial Lead in Skanska’s tendering process, by providing a comprehensive service to address contractual and commercial issues of the projects.
2. Ensure the commercial strategy for the contracted works is developed and effectively managed.
3. Lead pricing, procurement, tender events, contract administration, and negotiations to protect Skanska’s contractual position and deliver value.
4. Manage budgets, cashflows, liabilities, profit plans, and forecasts while ensuring scope, terms, and project conditions are implemented effectively.
5. Oversee the delivery of contracts to meet programme and margin targets, leading monthly evaluations and payments for supply chain works (including change), ensuring accurate administration, notices, and compliance with all agreements.
6. Manage upstream and downstream change control, procurement, subcontract negotiations, and critical path packages, while monitoring risk, opportunity, cost, and aligning design changes with programme requirements.
7. Produce and present financial forecasts, conduct quarterly reviews, manage claims, insurance, and final accounts, and maintain comprehensive project records and archives.
8. Line management of the team including PDRs, team leadership and general performance management.
What you'll bring to the role:
9. Demonstrable experience as the Commercial Lead in delivering DIO/MOD projects working through PCSA stages, successfully converting and delivering on time and to budget
10. Demonstrable experience of managing projects from inception through to completion with a value of between £25million and £300million
11. Evidence of building effective relationships with clients and key stakeholders
12. Experience in recruiting, developing, supporting, leading and retaining highly successful large project teams
13. Experience of varied forms of contract including NEC
14. Detailed working knowledge of contract/commercial law.
15. Experience of large and complex claims
16. MRICS qualified highly desirable/degree educated in a relevant subject.
17. Knowledge and experience of using CEMAR would be advantageous
18. SC security clearance would be advantageous
19. Knowledge and experience of working within secure UK environments would be advantageous
Security Clearance
This role requires a minimum level of security clearance and may also require a higher level of National Security Vetting. You should be aware that certain levels of clearance or specific projects and/or sites have UK residency requirements; and any dual or multiple nationalities must be declared. Any persons who do not fulfil these residency requirements may be unable to obtain the required level of clearance and would not be eligible to undertake this role.
