Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking salaried GP to complement our team of GPs and staff. Ideally we are looking to cover 4-6 clinical sessions which will include extended hours. The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
Main duties of the job
As a salaried GP your main duties and responsibilities will be:
* Perform clinical examinations of patients to assess, diagnose and monitor conditions
* Cover On call
* Carry out patient consultations within the surgery
* Monitor patients' conditions and wellbeing
* Carry out home visits where necessary
* Diagnose and treat various illnesses/ailments
* Liaise with other healthcare professionals (e.g., midwives, pharmacists, health visitors and psychiatrists) as part of multidisciplinary teams
* All general duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
About us
We are based in Brierley Hill Health And Social Care Centre in the heart of Brierley Hill, Dudley. We have a practice size of 9056 patients. Our practice team includes 4 GP partners, 1 Nurses, 1 HCA, 2 PA's, 1 Midwife, 1 First Contact Physio and highly trained admin and reception teams.
Job description
Clinical responsibilities:
In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols
Providing counselling and health education
Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
Collecting data for audit purposes
Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
Other responsibilities within the organisation:
Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety
A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice
Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation

Qualifications Essential
* Qualified GP
* MRCGP
* Full GMC Registration
* National Performers List Registration
* Appropriate defence indemnity (MDU/MPS)
* Eligibility to practice in the UK
* Experience of working a primary care environment
* General understanding of GMS/PMS contract
* Experience of continued professional development
* Outstanding level of clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with that of an experienced GP
